Manual Turning – We mainly save the manual turning for 1 off’s or turning large or long work that won’t fit in the CNC lathes. We machine all our cylinder barrels and repair threads on the manual machines.
CNC Turning – Great for time saving and efficiency on multiple parts and production runs. Any multiple order will go through one of our CNC lathes to make sure that you get the best price for your parts. CNC allows us to process metal a lot faster than a human hand is capable of on a manual machine. We can make almost anything to order in good time for a great price.
Manual Milling – On smaller jobs or 1 off manufactures we will often finish the job on a manual machine to save the set up and programming time on a CNC. The digital read out controls let us program in basic movements like pitching out holes on a PCD and we have a dividing head for cutting splines or doing anything that doesn’t divide equally into 360 degrees.
CNC Milling – The majority of milling work that comes through the workshop is done on one of our 2 CNC mills. Jig setting allows us to set up a work piece so the next is easily clamped with the datum already set from the previous piece saving lots of time and money with the same accurate results.
Hydraulic Cylinder Design – In cases where what you have just isn’t working or you haven’t figured out how to make this part of your design work, our experienced team can look at the situation and figure out the most cost and space effective way to get around your problem. Crossroads has modified designs and designed from scratch for many of their existing clients. We have a Hydraulic Design Engineer on site who can look at our designs and test them on ANSYS Mechanical computer program. With over 50 years combined experience with hydraulic cylinders, we are the team to sort even the biggest head scratchers.
Hydraulic Cylinder Repair – Crossroad Engineering & Hydraulics mainly deals with the repair of hydraulic cylinders off a range of machinery, from excavators to drilling rigs. We can handle anything from a re-seal to a complete overhaul on a badly damaged cylinder. Often we can improve by using materials better suited to the particular application of the cylinder like induction hardened chrome rod or using aluminium bronze for the gland etc. which means you are up and running for longer and getting more hours out of your machinery before it is time to recondition again.
Hydraulic Cylinder Manufacture – Crossroad Engineering & Hydraulics can manufacture to order. Either one of our designs or we can copy your existing cylinder exactly (with or without adding improvements) for much cheaper than you would be able to buy off your regular supplier.
